Mr. Boothby currently serves as the Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer of Newfield Exploration Company. He was promoted to the position of President in February 2009 and to the additional role of Chief Executive Officer in May 2009. From 2007 to 2009, Boothby served as Senior Vice President – Acquisitions and Business Development. From 2002 – 2007, he held the role of Vice President – Mid-Continent. Boothby was responsible for leading Newfield's early development of the Woodford Shale Play in southeastern Oklahoma and other resource plays that have driven this region's significant growth. From 1999 – 2001, Boothby was Managing Director – Newfield Exploration Australia Ltd. (divested in 2003) and managed the Company's operations in the Timor Sea, from Perth, Australia. Prior to joining Newfield in 1999, Boothby worked for Cockrell Oil Corporation, British Gas and Tenneco Oil Company.
B.S. in petroleum engineering from Louisiana State University and a M.B.A. from Rice University.
Serves on the Board of Directors of the American Petroleum Institute. He is a member of the Board and past Chairman of the American Exploration & Production Council and a member of the National Petroleum Council's Finance Committee. He is a past board member of the Independent Petroleum Association of America, America’s Natural Gas Alliance, Oklahoma Independent Petroleum Association and the Oklahoma Energy Resources Board.
Serves on the Advisory Committee of the Louisiana State University Craft and Hawkins Department of Petroleum Engineering and on the Council of Overseers for the Rice University Jones Graduate School of Business.
