2017-2018 Corporate Responsibility

Community Outreach

Engaging in causes that are meaningful to us and our communities has been a long-standing tradition at Newfield. We believe it’s important to give back to the communities where we operate and where our employees live and work. The Company and our employees spend countless hours in support of local charities and events. The Newfield Foundation is the heart of our charitable giving—enabling us to share our success with organizations that make a difference in the local communities.

Matching Gifts

We continue to support causes important to our employees with a Matching Gifts program. Matching our employee contributions dollar-for-dollar enables them to double their donations to their favorite charities and shows our support of their cause.

In 2017, we matched nearly $142,000 in donations to charitable organizations. Combined with Foundation grants and university rewards and scholarships, our total charitable giving totaled $1.4 million and supported 214 organizations in 2017.

Newfield matches donations dollar-for-dollar up to $2,500 per person annually. Topping the chart with the highest matched donations in 2017 were Panther Creek Inspiration Ranch, American Red Cross, The Woodlands Christian Academy, American Heart Association and Texas Children’s Hospital.

A Partner in Hurricane Relief

In August 2017, Hurricane Harvey struck the coast of Texas and made a devastating path through numerous communities including Rockport, Victoria and the Houston-Woodlands area. Like so many others in the area, some of our employees were affected by the storm. In the wake of this disaster, we immediately went to work to help our workforce and the local community.

Volunteers assembled with equipment, tools and whatever variety of materials were needed to assist members of our Newfield family with cleanup and construction. Other employees supplied clothing, food and additional provisions required by their impacted colleagues.

A longtime supporter of The American Red Cross, Newfield donated $50,000 to the organization’s Harris and Montgomery chapters as they worked to provide shelter, food and clothing for hundreds of thousands of people impacted by the disaster. In addition to the donation, we established the Newfield Disaster Relief Fund to help with employee recovery efforts after the hurricane and in the event of future disaster events. Newfield again matched employee donations and collected funds totaling more than $120,000, which were distributed to eligible employees in the form of a tax-free grant.
